Asian orthoxylene moved up $5-$36/mt week over week amid tightening supply and strong buying interest for February-loading cargoes in South Korea. the FOB Korea marker sharply higher week over week at $891/mt Jan. 30, $1/mt above a bid last heard for a 3,000 mt second-half February-loading cargo. The buyer had raised its bid from $860/mt to $890/mt, against an offer seen earlier at $900/mt for any February-loading cargo. Several market participants held conservative views on the hike of FOB Korea prices, citing phthalic anhydride business in Asia could not afford the level.
