US Gulf Orthoxylene: Prices reach year-high levels amid tight feedstock / OX, MX prices reach highest levels in 2025 / Refinery outages tighten upstream supply

US Gulf spot orthoxylene prices rose in the week ended Oct. 24, tracking higher upstream mixed xylenes prices amid sluggish activity. US orthoxylene spot prices at 48.50 cents/lb FOB USG Oct. 24, up 0.25 cents on the week. Upstream, prompt-month USG mixed xylene spot prices were assessed at 306 cents/gal FOB USG Oct. 24, up 3 cents week over week, within a bid-offer range heard at 299-314 cents/gal and tracking higher November RBOB prices during the week. Market participants expect the US Gulf MX prices to remain supported through late October as refinery outages continue to limit supply despite gradual restarts. “Seems like the market is quite tight, expect that to continue for the rest of the month,” a supplier said.
