Asian MMA: Prices largely unchanged amid holiday / China market to stay resilient in near term / Closure of Trinseo yet to impact Asia

The Asian MMA market remained slow as key participants are still away during the Gold Week holidays over Oct. 1-8. MMA CFR China prices stayed unchanged week over week at $1,210/mt and CFR SEA prices remained stable at $1,250/mt. Market dynamics are expected to pick up on Oct. 9 in China, where fundamentals stood relatively resilient due to tight supply and downstream replenishment, although the overseas market in general saw limited improvement. “Spot deals are limited, and prices are basically stable,” said a producer in Northeast Asia. Offers from China were heard hovering around $1,250/ mt FOB China, while CFR SEA levels were heard generally quoted at $1,300/mt for iso-tanks.
