Asian Iso-MX: Prices rise amid mixed demand, supply dynamics / Chinese domestic isomer-MX prices fall on weak demand / Northeast Asia sees sufficient supply from imports

Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene up $4/ metric ton day over day at $733/mt FOB Korea, $757/mt CFR Taiwan and $738/mt CFR China on Feb. 6. Mixed xylenes exports were heard continually lower in South Korea, with paraxylene-mixed xylene margins still profitable upward of the $140/mt range, according to a producer based in the region. While there were expectations for the Chinese market to benefit from mixed xylenes import arbitrage, according to a Singapore-based trader, Chinese domestic isomer-MX prices continued to fall due to weaker demand, despite bullish PX prices, a China-based broker said. This was mainly due to PX producers not needing to procure feedstock from the market; if they did, they would buy from Northern China, where material was generally cheaper, the broker said.
