India’s methanol prices surged $58.50/mt in the week ended July 24, as shipping disruptions in the Middle East tightened supply and escalating tensions between the US and Iran clouded the near-term pricing outlook. CFR India methanol at $516/mt on July 24, up 50 cents/mt on day and up $58.50/mt on week, as trade discussions remained thin with buyers holding back amid volatility, market sources said. India’s domestic ex-tank offers eased by Rupee 1/kg on day to around Rupees 56-57/kg across all ports as importers booked profits, a Mumbai-based trader said.
