The Indian acetic acid market continued to be bearish during the week ended Oct. 1 amid ample port inventories and persistent ullage issues at Indian ports. Domestic ex-tank discussions slipped to historic low levels at Rupee 28-29/kg at Kandla, Hazira and Mumbai ports, India-based importers said. Importers were aggressively selling off material to get rid of excess port inventories as they continued to grapple with ullage issues. Domestic acetic acid prices in India slipped in this range for the first time in the past 15 years, an India-based importer said. Margins were negative with upstream methanol trading above acetic acid in India, a domestic acetic acid producer said.
