European benzene prices rose on Aug. 28 amid higher traded levels on the final day of the September contract price trading period. benzene for delivery five to 30 days forward at $1,061.50/metric ton CIF Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp, up $30.50/mt day over day, based on a backwardated structure across September. Four September deals were heard done during the day, with Sept. 1-30 dates trading three times within a $1,049.40-$1,060/mt range, while Sept. 1-5 dates traded once at $1,069.40/mt. Three deals were also heard to have been done late on Aug. 27, although two of these deals were eventually excluded from the September trading period because they were concluded as spreads to ethylbenzene rather than outright benzene deals.
