China acetone market remains firm on low inventory, production disruptions / Formosa Chemicals restarts Ningbo phenol/acetone plant

Asian phenol stable week over week at $1,025/metric ton CFR China, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was similarly stable week over week at $1,095/mt Aug. 25. Discussions in the domestic China phenol market were relatively rangebound, with east China ex-tank prices heard at 8,320-8,350 yuan/mt, compared with 8,300-8,400 yuan/mt the previous week. Meanwhile, ex-tank prices for acetone in the east China market continued to rise on the week, with discussions heard at 7,200-7,250 yuan/mt, up from 6,550-6,650 yuan/mt a week ago. A producer in China said: "The domestic China acetone market remains very firm, supported by low inventory coupled with production disruptions due to the typhoon."
