India Methanol: Rises $30/mt amid supply concerns / Downstream buyers resist higher ex-tank prices / Sellers note increased freight rates

The Indian methanol market strengthened March 6, driven by concerns about tighter supplies from the Middle East in the wake of the war. India’s domestic ex-tank prices were reported at Rupees 38- 40/kg, up at least Rupees 1.5/kg day over day and Rupees 8.75-9/ kg week over week, data showed. Import parity levels were in the $380-$390/mt range, according to market sources. Several trades were reported for March-arrival cargoes in the week ended March 6, as buyers sought prompt cargoes to cover any potential supply shortfall. A cargo of about 13,000 mt, with a mid-March arrival, was sold at $390/mt CFR India on March 5, while another cargo of about 3,500 mt was sold at $387.50/mt CFR India, according to market sources.
