Asian caprolactam prices rose during the week to Nov. 20 as anticipated by market participants, following two weeks of domestic Chinese price hikes amid industry-wide production cuts. China’s caprolactam producers agreed to a 20% production cut across the board, following an industry meeting held Nov. 5. “Following the announcement, several companies have either cut production or are in the process of doing so,” a Far East Asian buyer said. Since then, over Nov. 6-20, domestic East China molten caprolactam prices rose by Yuan 450-500/metric ton to Yuan 8,600-8,650/mt. Domestic solid form CPL prices increased by Yuan 350-450/mt to Yuan 8,800/mt over the same period.
