Asian PTA: Prices slump $9/mt WOW amid lower PX / PX falls $16/mt WOW, amid weaker sentiment / Xin Feng Min delays new plant startup due to poor margins

The Asian purified terephthalic acid FOB China price dipped $9/mt week over week to be assessed at $610/mt on Sept. 19 as the market moved lower in line with weaker PTA futures and lower paraxylene feedstock prices. PX CFR Taiwan/China fell $16/mt over the period to $816/mt on Sept. 19. In the Chinese domestic PTA markets, prices were down Yuan 61/mt day over day at Yuan 4,527/mt Sept. 19, with tradable levels heard around PTA futures for January 2026 minus Yuan 80-75/mt. The TA 2601 on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange closed at Yuan 4,604 at 0700 GMT in Asian trade on Sept. 19. Currently, PTA margins are negative in China's domestic market, hovering around Yuan 120-130/mt, far below breakeven levels heard to be close to Yuan 350/mt, PTA market sources...
