Asian orthoxylene: Tight supply, firm buying supports market / Sinopec raises listed price by 150 yuan/mt / China’s OX exports fall 34.4% MOM in July

Asian orthoxylene extended the gains on week to Aug. 28, with growing buying interest heard in the market amid low inventory. FOB/CFR China OX $15/mt higher on week at $1,205/mt Aug. 28. China’s Sinopec raised its listed orthoxylene price by 150 yuan/mt to 8,750 yuan/mt on Aug. 24, a company source told Aug. 25. This was the second upward adjustment after the company announced the new listed price at 8,600 yuan/mt on Aug. 17. Low production rates in China continue to lend pricing support to the Asian OX market, while the source said supply recovery is likely to be delayed from the previous expectation.
