Asian orthoxylene was broadly stable during the week ended Oct. 2, with trading momentum remaining thin as Chinese participants were away for the Golden Week holiday. While November supply availability started to be heard in Northeast Asia, the market momentum was described as “dull” during China's Golden Week. Chinese producers were expected to resume offering and negotiations after the holiday ends on Oct. 7. “Nothing looks firm and sentiment is just tepid,” said one Asian PA producer. Another regional PA producer cited caution amid elevated freight costs and the anticipated recovery in supply in China, which weighs on buying appetite. Similarly, market activity in India was heard to be subdued, with participants noting limited spot trading interest.
