Asian Orthoxylene: Extends gains amid upstream strength / China Sinopec lifts OX price 250 yuan/mt / Low inventories support firm supplier sentiment

Asian orthoxylene closed the week to Sept. 4 on a bullish note, buoyed by the strength stemming from higher domestic China prices and feedstock isomer-MX costs. China’s Sinopec raised its listed price by 250 yuan/metric ton to 9,000 yuan/mt Sept. 2, a company source and a downstream buyer said Sept. 3. The company last adjusted the OX listed price higher to 8,750 yuan/mt Aug. 24. The increase came against the backdrop of prevailing strength observed across Asian aromatics markets, with ICE Brent November contracts rising to $94.94/ barrel as of Sept. 2.
