Asian methanol prices remained mostly stable in the week to Sept. 12 amid weak spot demand. CFR China methanol price down $3/mt day over day, but stable week over week at $261.50/mt on Sept. 12. There were few bids and offers in the dollar-denominated Chinese methanol market, but more discussions took place around FOB China methanol cargoes as some market participants considered selling spot into the Indian methanol market. FOB China methanol was heard discussed around $270/mt in the week ended Sept. 12. Spot trading activity in the Southeast Asian, South Korean, and Taiwan methanol markets was thin on Sept. 12, with many end-users covered by term volume, market sources said.
