Asian methanol trading was mixed Oct. 2, with China closed for the Golden Week holidays and some market participants away for an upcoming chemicals conference in Europe. Selling interest, however, emerged late in the week, while limited Middle Eastern supply and ongoing plant outages in Southeast Asia continued to underpin sentiment. As a result, Asian methanol prices closed the week higher. Selling indications for Taiwan, Japan and South Korea were heard at $660/metric ton CFR on Oct. 2, while an offer for a 3,000-mt cargo loading for Oct. 25-Nov. 10 delivery was reported at $660/mt CFR Southeast Asia on Oct. 2.
