Asian methanol prices closed the week ended July 24 on a higher note, with gains across all key regional markets driven by mounting concerns that shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz would tighten methanol supply from the Middle East to Asia in August. India, where netbacks were more attractive, further tightening the availability of spot cargoes for Southeast Asian buyers. Southeast Asian methanol prices led regional gains. CFR Southeast Asia methanol at $463/mt July 24, up $12/mt day over day and $30/mt week over week.
