Asian Ethylene: Weakens as China holidays thin trade / Prices drop $10/mt amid holiday lull / Regional demand stays low across Asia / Buyers hold back on sufficient inventories

Asian ethylene prices weakened Oct. 2 as China's Oct. 1-7 holiday curtailed spot discussions. ethylene at $1,150/metric ton CFR Northeast Asia, down $10/mt day over day, against tradable ideas of $1,140- $1,150/mt and a selling idea at $1,190/mt for end-October to early- November delivery. A separate selling idea last heard was at $1,130/mt CFR North China, a buyer shared. CFR Southeast Asia at $1,100/mt, down $10/ mt on the day and in line with a tradable idea at that level. A market participant described regional demand as low. The weekly FOB Korea assessment fell $40/mt to $1,140/mt, below a selling idea at $1,180/mt.
