Asian Ethylene: Rises week over week on tight regional supply / Ongoing, upcoming turnarounds in Asia to cap supply / Several South Korean producers exhaust Oct-loading cargoes

The Asian ethylene markets gained in the week to Sept. 12 due to tight supply for Northeast Asian cargoes and continued demand from China for October cargoes. Upcoming turnarounds in South Korea are expected to add to the supply tightness until early-December, supporting price discussions for October. Selling indications were heard at $860-$870/mt CFR NE Asia for fixed-price cargoes, while formula-basis cargoes saw discussion levels at premiums of $10-$15/mt over CFR NE Asia. Buying indications were mostly at $10-$11/mt over CFR NE Asia, with a deal heard at the same level in the week. Separately, an offer was heard for deepsea US-origin material at $825/mt CFR NE Asia, against buying indications heard at $800-$810/mt CFR NE Asia. No deal was heard.
