Asian caprolactam prices rose during the week to Aug. 13, buoyed by increases in crude oil and benzene prices. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam $15/metric ton higher week over week at $1,705/mt on Aug. 13, within a tradable indication heard at $1,695-$1,715/mt. "Due to the rebound in crude oil and benzene prices, sellers definitely want to raise prices," a Northeast Asian buyer said, adding that "CIF offers from mainland China producers are all above $1,700/mt." "Mainland China CPL producers' operating rate is at 66%. As supply and demand are tightly balanced, sellers are relatively firm on prices. However, downstream demand from nylon-6 is not strong, only driven by necessity," the buyer added.
