Asian caprolactam prices continued ascending during the week to Aug. 20, supported by stronger crude oil and benzene prices, and tighter supply in the domestic Chinese market. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam up $45/metric ton week over week at $1,750/mt on August 20, based on a tradable indication heard at the same level. "Oil and benzene prices are strong now. Combined with tight supply and demand in mainland China, this has helped to push up CPL prices," a Taiwanese buyer noted. Meanwhile, a China-based producer with integrated facilities for caprolactam and nylon-6 said they were not selling CPL now due to tighter supply arising from their turnaround.
