Asian caprolactam prices continued to rise during the week to Sept. 3, supported by stronger upstream crude oil and benzene prices, and buoyed by higher downstream nylon-6 prices. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam up $65/metric ton week over week at $1,910/mt on Sept. 3, within a tradable indication heard at $1,900-$1,910/mt. “This week, the market has been steadily rising under strong benzene-toluene prices and crude oil-benzene strength,” a Taiwanese buyer said, while adding that “offers for China CPL exports have reached $1,920/mt on a CFR Far East Asia basis and are still rising, with prices being very firm.” “The uptrend appears to be strong in the near term, and CPL prices are not expected to weaken soon.
