Asian caprolactam prices stalled in the week to April 9, amid upstream volatility and subdued downstream markets. "Market is now at stalemate mode, with sellers selling at higher prices to protect their margins, while we also struggle to purchase at higher prices due to weak downstream demand," a Northeast Asian buyer said. "Tight supply remains due to ongoing naphtha value chain disruption and geopolitical uncertainty." A Chinese trader echoed a similar sentiment, saying, "Caprolactam prices are under pressure despite the tight supply situation, due to softening downstream and weaker domestic benzene prices after the two-week ceasefire agreement."
