Asian Caprolactam / East China CPL prices up Yuan 400-850/mt on week / FOB Korea benzene rises $48/mt / Asian Caprolactam Weekly Rationale

Asian caprolactam prices rose for the second consecutive week, supported by firmer crude oil and benzene prices amid ongoing strikes in the Middle East, while downstream nylon-6 prices also strengthened. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam prices up $30/metric ton week over week at $1,675/mt on July 16, within a tradable indication heard at $1,660-$1,680/mt. The assessment also took into consideration stronger upstream and domestic East China prices. “With the spike in crude oil and benzene prices, FOB China caprolactam has also gained $30/mt to $1,610/mt this week. Meanwhile, nylon-6 prices have increased by $100/mt,” a Chinabased producer said.
