Asian acrylonitrile prices rose in the week to Aug 18, amid tightening supply in China. Prices have remained firm due to several domestic maintenance. China's Liaoning Kingfa shut its 130,000 metric tons/year acrylonitrile unit Aug. 13 for planned maintenance. The turnaround is expected to last for about 25 days. Its other 130,000-mt/year line remains running. Jiangsu Sailboat's two 260,000-mt/year ACN lines are also undergoing a planned turnaround till end- August, leaving only one unit running, reported earlier. Market sources said that an East China producer is currently undergoing an unplanned turnaround, while another company has also reduced the operating rate of its ACN plant, leading to domestic tightness.
