Asian acetic acid (AA) and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) prices moved in opposite directions in the week ending Aug. 27, with domestic AA prices in China buoyed by rising feedstock costs, while VAM prices softened as producers returned from scheduled maintenance, easing the supply tightness that had underpinned the market in recent weeks. Bullish sentiment in the Chinese AA market was driven by higher feedstock methanol costs, which lifted values across both domestic and export markets.
