Asian acetic acid prices softened in the week to July 23 with market participants citing easing supply and stable demand, while vinyl acetate monomer prices rose amid tight supply of export and domestic cargoes and improved domestic demand in China. FOB China acetic acid at $395/metric ton, down $5/mt week over week, while the East China spot price fell Yuan 80/mt over the same period to Yuan 2,880/mt ex-tank July 23. Multiple market participants, such as buyers and traders, indicated lower FOB and domestic China prices, owing to easing supply and stable demand. One Chinese producer said multiple AA plants are anticipated to resume operations after maintenance, resulting in ample supply in August.
