Asian phenol up $15/metric ton week over week at $1,040/mt CFR China, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was assessed $15/mt higher week over week at $1,110/mt Sept. 8. Discussions in the domestic China phenol market rose, with East China ex-tank prices heard at 8,400-8,500 yuan/mt, compared with 8,300-8,350 yuan/mt the previous week. Meanwhile, ex-tank prices for acetone in the East China market saw significantly higher gains week over week, with discussions heard at 7,900-8,200 yuan/mt, compared with 7,150-7,300 yuan/mt a week ago. A China-based producer said that "acetone prices are very firm recently" amid low inventory and feedstock cost support, adding that "demand for acetone is also better than that of phenol".
