Chinese AA stocks at 160,000 mt / Vinyl acetate monomer demand in China slow / Sinochem to shut Quanzhou EVA plant, switch to LDPE

Asian acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer prices were stable in the week ended Jan. 29, although traders observed supply tightness in the Chinese AA market. In China, acetic acid inventories were heard at about 160,000 metric tons, below the typical 200,000 mt level, while producers were operating at only 80% capacity, according to traders. FOB China offers were heard $5-$15/mt higher from the week prior at $340-$357/mt on Jan. 29, but traders said buyers were not prepared to pay more than $320/mt FOB China.
